
Man Sentenced after Threatening Home Inspector with Gun in Maine
A 67-year-old man was sentenced to 21 months in prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm in Maine.
Threatened Home Inspector with Gun
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said James Elliot from Springfield “threatened an insurance company home inspector with a firearm” in February 2024.
Taken into Custody
A Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy responded and arrested him at the scene.
Six Firearms Seized
His home was searched with a warrant and police seized six firearms, including a loaded .44 magnum lever-action rifle.
Prior Felony Convictions
“Elliott was precluded from possessing firearms due to two prior felony convictions in the state of Kansas,” said court records.
Pleaded Guilty
He pleaded guilty on February 4, 2025. He was sentenced to 21 months followed by three year supervised release.
