Man Arrested in Domestic Violence Shooting Incident in Grand Isle

A 27-year-old man faces charges including domestic violence assault and terrorizing after police say he fired a gun numerous times inside a home in Grand Isle early Wednesday morning.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the residence around 1 a.m., according to a news release from Sheriff Darrell Crandall. The public safety dispatcher could hear a man screaming at a woman, Crandall said. Multiple gunshots could also be heard, followed by the man telling the woman he was going to kill her.

Deputy Sheriff Sgt. Matt Cummings and Maine State Trooper Andrew Levesque responded to the residence. The investigation developed sufficient evidence to charge Corey Boucher of Grand Isle with domestic violence assault, domestic violence terrorizing, obstructing the report of a crime and aggravated reckless conduct with a firearm.

The Sheriff’s Office alleges that Boucher assaulted and terrorized a female victim and that he discharged a firearm nearly a dozen times inside the residence. Some bullets passed through the exterior wall and struck a neighboring home. No one in that home was injured, the Sheriff said.

Sgt. Cummings recovered and seized several firearms and a large number of handgun shell casings.

Boucher offered no resistance during his arrest, and was transported to the Aroostook County Jail where he will remain until he sees a judge.

The victim, who will not be identified, sustained minor injuries.
