Man Arrested for Selling Crack Cocaine in Portland
Portland Police arrested Nega M. Negash, 39, of Portland and charged him with selling crack cocaine.
Negash was pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign on Congress St. near Marston St. A drug dog, brought to the scene, indicated that there were drugs in the car. Maine Drug Enforcement Agents searched the car and discovered a bag containing just under six ounces of crack. The street value of the crack is about $16,000, according to the police report. Officers also found $1,954 cash in the car.
The suspect was charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled drugs (Cocaine Base), a class A felony. Negash is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $20,000 bail. The vehicle was also seized during the arrest. Agents applied for additional search warrants to determine if there is additional contraband concealed inside.
