Maine Game Wardens say a 57-year-old Maine man died in the first fatal snowmobile accident in 2019.

According to News Center Maine, Bryan Sylvester was thrown onto the ice on Long Pond when he hit a snow drift. He was not wearing a helmet and was travelling alone, said Maine State Game Wardens.

A search for Sylvester was conducted about four hours after he left his home around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. He was found at 7:45 p.m., just over a mile and a half from his residence, near Parlin Stream, in the vicinity of Jackman.

Sylvester was an employee with the Maine Department of Transportation, according to officials.

The accident is under investigation.
