Maine Unemployment Lowest In 13 Years
The unemployment rate in Maine is at its lowest point since 2002 after dipping to 4.1 percent in November.
The state Department of Labor says the preliminary, seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell slightly from 4.3 percent in October and is also down from 5.5 percent a year ago. The department says the number of unemployed declined 10,500 over the course of the year to 27,900. New England's unemployment rate was 4.6 percent for the month. The nationwide rate of 5 percent wasn't changed from October. The U.S. unemployment rate was 5.8 percent a year ago.
Aroostook County's rate went up by three-tenths of a percentage point, from 4.7 percent in October to 5 percent in November. 29,800 were employed out of a trackable workforce of 31,380, with 1,580 unemployed.
