Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 110 calls for service in and around Aroostook County this past week. Here are the incidents featured in their weekly report:

Incident Type: DRUGS Date: 10/09/2018 Town: SMYRNA Trooper: TR. DUFF Brief Synopsis: Tr. Duff was conducting traffic enforcement along US Highway 2, Smyrna. During the stop, Tr. Duff noticed a package in the man’s pocket that he suspected was illegal drugs. Upon further investigation, it was determined the man was in possession of a usable amount of heroin. The man is currently on probation from New Hampshire and is being supervised in Maine. The probation officer was contacted but said he was not going to violate the man’s probation. Tr. Duff arrested the man for possession of heroin and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT - SERIOUS INJURY Date: 10/10/2018 Town: ORIENT Trooper: CPL. QUINT Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint and Tr. Duff responded to a serious injury crash in Orient. A woman was at the intersection of the Deering Lake Road and US Highway 1 intending to turn left. A loaded log truck was driving north on US Highway 1. The woman pulled out in front of the trailer truck causing the truck to crash into the front of her car. Her vehicle was heavily damaged and she the jaws-of-life were used to extract her from the vehicle. She was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center. US Highway 1 was closed for approximately 1 hour because of this crash.

Incident Type: CRASH - OUI Date: 10/10/2018 Town: E PLANTATION Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins responded to a single vehicle crash in E Plantation. A pickup was driving north on E Plantation Road when it failed to negotiate a turn, went off the roadway, and struck a utility pole causing it to break and the wires blocked the roadway. During the investigation, Tr. Kilcollins determined the driver was intoxicated and after field sobriety testing arrested the man for OUI.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT Date: 10/11/2018 Town: CROSS LAKE Trooper: TR. LEVESQUE Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque was driving on State Route 161 and witnessed a vehicle roll over. The vehicle went to pass another vehicle that was driving south when the driver lost control of his vehicle, skidded off the north side of the roadway, and crashed into the ditch. The man was not injured in the crash but the vehicle was heavily damaged. The crash was captured on Tr. Levesque’s Watch Guard camera system.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT - MULTI VEHICLE Date: 10/11/2018 Town: BRIDGEWATER Trooper: CPL. QUINT Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint and Tr. Kilcollins responded to a crash on US Highway 1, Bridgewater. A pickup hauling a trailer with another truck loaded was driving north when the trailer lost traction on the wet roadway. The trailer crossed into the southbound lane striking a tractor trailer. The front left wheel of the truck was dislodged causing the truck to cross the roadway and crash into the ditch. The pickup towing the trailer slid off the right side of the roadway hitting a utility pole (the pole broke in half) and then flipped onto its side. No one was injured in this crash. US Highway 1 was closed for approximately 45 minutes until the live power lines could be removed from the roadway.

Incident Type: OAS/ FALSE PLATES Date: 10/12/2018 Town: ISLAND FALLS Trooper: TR. BELL Brief Synopsis: Tr Bell was parked in Oakfield when he observed a vehicle that went into the Circle K store. Tr Bell ran the plate, which showed that the plates did not belong on the vehicle that Tr Bell observed. After the vehicle left the store, Tr Bell caught up to the vehicle in Island Falls and stopped the car for the possible violation. The operator was under suspension and Tr Bell conducted a vehicle search in which he located marijuana. Tr Bell summonsed the male for illegal attachment of plates and OAS.

Incident Type: CASE SOLVED Date: 10/13/2018 Town: LINNEUS Trooper: TR. BELL Brief Synopsis: Tr Bell covered a property damage crash in June of this year and the offending vehicle caused extensive damage to a local store and then left the scene. On October 13th, Tr Bell spotted the suspected vehicle and stopped it and identified the operator as having been the operator in June that had hit the store. Tr Bell summonsed the male for leaving the scene of a property damage crash.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 10/13/2018 Town: SHERMAN Trooper: TR. ADAMS Brief Synopsis: Tr Adams was patrolling in Sherman and he made a traffic stop. As a result of this stop, Tr Adams summonsed the male operator for operating after suspension and a licensed driver arrived and drove the vehicle from the scene.

Incident Type: VCR/ ALCOHOL POSSESSION Date: 10/11/2018 Town: MARS HILL Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli made a traffic stop in Mars Hill on a vehicle with an expired registration. During the stop, Tr Pescitelli was able to determine that all 4 occupants were under the age of 21 and one passenger had an open container of alcohol. A female passenger was on bail conditions that she not use or possess alcohol. Tr Pescitelli administered a PBT and determined that the female had violated her conditions by having consumed alcohol. The female became irate and Tr Pescitelli arrested her for the violation of bail and summonsed a male passenger for illegal possession of liquor by a minor.

Incident Type: DISORDERLY CONDUCT Date: 10/10/2018 Town: MAPLETON Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli was dispatched to Mapleton for a complaint. The C1 reported that a female had wanted her to leave the residence they were at and when the C1 refused to leave, the female hooked her vehicle up with a tow strap and pulled her vehicle out of the driveway onto the road. Tr Pescitelli located the female in Masardis and summonsed her for a traffic violation and for disorderly conduct.

Incident Type: OAR/ ILLEGAL ATTACHMENT OF PLATES Date: 10/12/2018 Town: E TWP Trooper: TR. STOUTAMYER Brief Synopsis: Tr Stoutamyer was dispatched to a vehicle parked with flashers on and a male subject sitting on the trunk that appeared to be intoxicated. Tr Stoutamyer arrived and found that the male was not intoxicated but had a revoked driving status and the registration plates were illegally attached. Tr Stoutamyer arrested the 27 yo male and transported him to ACJ.

Incident Type: ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING Date: 10/11/2018 Town: PORTAGE Trooper: TR. STOUTAMYER Brief Synopsis: Tr Stoutamyer responded to a shooting complaint that had occurred in Portage. Through his investigation, Tr Stoutamyer was able to determine that the male subject was visiting from Florida and located a small handgun in a camp. When the male picked the handgun up, it went off and hit the male in the hand.
