Maine State Police Troop F Weekly Report (June 26 – July 2)
Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 126 calls for service over the past week in and around Aroostook County. Here is the Troop's weekly report:
Incident Type: BURGLARY Date: 6/27/2017 Town: Hammond Plt. Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins investigated a burglary in Hammond Plantation. The home owner did not live at the residence but had a large amount of his belongings stored there. The man told Tr. Kilcollins he did not suspect anything was missing but wanted to report the incident. Tr. Kilcollins checked the area and discovered two juveniles lived nearby. When he mentioned the house that was broken into the juveniles first said they were only on the roof but after further questioning admitted to going inside the house and looking through the items inside. Tr. Kilcollins explained to the kids and their parents the seriousness of what they did and how fortunate they are the owner is not pursuing criminal charges. Tr. Kilcollins also discovered one of the kids is currently on juvenile probation for an unrelated assault. The juvenile probation officer was notified of this incident.
Incident Type: CRIMINAL MISCHIEF Date: 6/27/2017 Town: Island Falls Trooper: Tr. Saucier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier started a criminal mischief investigation after receiving a call from the Island Falls Post Office. It appeared that spray paint had been used to damage the rear of the building. The investigation is active and ongoing.
Incident Type: THEFT Date: 6/28/2017 Town: Chapman Trooper: Tr. Levesque Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque is investigating the theft of some building materials in Chapman. The items were left in a garage where work was being conducted. When the owner arrived for the day he discovered the materials missing. Investigation is ongoing.
Incident Type: THEFT Date: 6/28/2017 Town: Castle Hill Trooper: Cpl. Michaud Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Michaud opened a theft investigation after receiving a call from Emera Maine. A former customer had tampered with an electrical meter and diverted power to a home after it had been shut off by the electric company. The investigation is active and ongoing.
Incident Type: THEFT Date: 6/28/2017 Town: Littleton Trooper: Tr. Sylvia Brief Synopsis: Tr. Sylvia started a theft investigation that originated in the Littleton area. A woman who had moved to South Carolina reported that she had discovered fraudulent charges on a Verizon account she had. The woman had recently moved and it appeared the charges had happened when she was living in Maine.
Incident Type: THEFT Date: 6/28/2017 Town: New Limerick Trooper: Tr. Sylvia Brief Synopsis: Tr. Sylvia initiated a theft investigation in New Limerick when a resident reported that a gas grill had been stolen from her camp. The grill had been stolen sometime in the last week. The investigation is active and ongoing.
Incident Type: OAS Date: 6/28/2017 Town: Westfield Trooper: Tr. Levesque Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque stopped a vehicle in Westfield for having a defective taillight. During the course of the stop Tr. Levesque discovered the 30-year-old male driver was suspended for failing to make required payment of fines and costs. The man also had a previous conviction for operating after suspension. Tr. Levesque issued the man a criminal summons for OAS and helped him arrange for a licensed driver to come get him and the vehicle.
Incident Type: Traffic Date: 6/29-30/2017 Town: Dyer Brook Trooper: Cpl. Quint Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint spent some discretionary patrol time in the construction zone on I-95 in Dyer Brook in the reduced speed zone areas, writing 17 summonses to motorists speeding through the construction area.
Incident Type: OAS Date: 6/30/2017 Town: Houlton Trooper: Tr. Levesque Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque stopped a vehicle in Houlton for a traffic infraction. During the course of the stop Tr. Levesque discovered the 20-year-old female driver had a suspended driver’s license. Tr. Levesque issued the woman a traffic summons for the infraction and helped her arrange to have a licensed driver come get her and the vehicle.
Incident Type: Moose Crash Date: 6/30/2017 Town: Sinclair/Madawaska Lake Trooper: Cpl. Hafford Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Hafford responded to a moose crash in Sinclair. The operator had a minor injury to his arm and his wife and son came to the scene to give him a ride home to Caribou. A short time later, the wife called to report that while going home, she had also hit a moose with her car. Cpl. Hafford responded to this crash as well, both crashes caused significant damage to their vehicles.
Incident Type: Furnishing Alcohol to Minors Date: 7/01/2017 Town: Oakfield Trooper: Tr. Adams Tr. Bell Brief Synopsis: A noise complaint was called in for the town of Oakfield. Upon investigation there was a party going on at a residence on the Thompson Settlement Road. It was determined that there were underage teens at the party. The resident that lived there was issued a criminal summons for Furnishing a place for minors to possess or consume alcohol. Tr. Bell arrested one male at the location for disorderly conduct and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail. MORE DETAILS HERE
Incident Type: VIOLATION OF BAIL Date: 7/02/2017 Town: Allagash Trooper: Tr. Curtin Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin arrested an Allagash man after he repeatedly called dispatchers without cause. The intoxicated man had been warned to stop calling unless he had an emergency. He appeared to be unhappy with a complaint he had made to the sheriff’s office, even though they were working on the complaint with him. The subject was on bail, and was charged with violating his conditions of release as well as harassment.
