Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 116 calls for service this past week in Aroostook County and outlying areas. Here are the incidents posted in their weekly report:

Incident Type: CRIMINAL MISCHIEF  Date: 1/16/2017 Town: Amity Trooper: Tr. Casavant Brief Synopsis: Tr. Casavant opened a criminal mischief investigation in the town of Amity. A new sand/salt shed had been built by the town and it appeared to have been recently shot up with a firearm. The investigation is ongoing.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 1/17/2017 Town: Houlton/Oakfield Trooper: Tr. Sylvia Brief Synopsis: Tr. Sylvia arrested and charged 2 men for driving with suspended licenses the week after traffic stops of their vehicles. The first was suspended for an OUI charge and the second was operating after habitual offender status and had several current suspensions.

Incident Type: TRAFFIC OFFENSE  Date: 1/17/2017 Town: Monticello Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins stopped a 39-year-old Presque Isle man for speeding. Tr. Kilcollins also noted the vehicle did not have a valid registration sticker displayed on the attached registration plates. During the traffic stop the man admitted that the vehicle registration expired March 2016 and was not insured. Tr. Kilcollins issued the man a warning for speeding, a traffic summons for the insurance violation, and a criminal summons for operating with expired registration.

Incident Type: PUBLIC RELATIONS  Date: 1/19/2017 Town: Littleton/Monticello Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins reported through his chain-of-command that a large number of deer were being struck on US Highway 1 in Littleton. Although this section of road has the seasonal high collision warning signs he noted that the deer were being struck by northbound traffic in an area before a motorist would observe the sign. Through the chain of command MDOT placed a temporary sign alerting drivers of the high deer population. The sign seems to have decreased the number of collisions in the area with the animals thus far.

Incident Type: OAS  Date: 1/20/2017 Town: Hodgdon Trooper: Tr. Bell Brief Synopsis: Tr. Bell observed a vehicle with different stickers on the front and rear registration plates. The registration came back as expired, and the female registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle was stopped and the female was given a summons for operating after suspension (infraction). The female’s license was seized due to it being suspended, and she was given a ride home. The female immediately paid her reinstatement fee, her license became valid, and her license was returned.

Incident Type: OAS  Date: 1/20/2017 Town: Staceyville Trooper: Tr. Adams Brief Synopsis: Tr. Adams stopped a vehicle for speeding on Station road in Staceyville for speeding. The operator told Tr. Adams that he didn’t have a license and a license check confirmed the operator was currently under suspension and he was summonsed for OAS.

Incident Type: DRUGS  Date: 1/20/2017 Town: St. Agatha Trooper: Tr. Curtin Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin found a suspicious vehicle parked behind a church Friday evening in St. Agatha. Upon investigation, he located a local man who had been hiding behind the church smoking marijuana. The subject was allowed to secure his vehicle, but Tr. Curtin had the subject call for a ride and did not allow him to drive after smoking the drug.

Incident Type: Suspicious Incident  Date: 1/21/2017 Town: Patten Trooper: Tr. Adams Brief Synopsis: Tr. Adams responded to Patten for an incident with a female that was under the influence of an unknown drug and was running around in the middle of the street and yelling for help. Tr. Adams, Warden Seth Powers and Park Ranger Michael Martin had to hold the woman down and secure her in handcuffs due to her violent outburst until EMS arrived. The female was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital and left in their care.

Incident Type: Suspicious Incident  Date: 1/21/2017 Town: Moro Trooper: Tr. Saucier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier dealt with an intoxicated pair of friends who had been arguing over a female they had both been in a relationship with. The pair was counseled by Tr. Saucier and sent their separate ways.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
