Maine sculptor Richard Gray has been working for the past eight months on a much needed tribute to the 26 women and children that were killed at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Now, the “Rock of Angels” is finally complete and has since been loaded on a 63-foot flatbed trailer - set to arrive at the Sandy Hook Center on Monday August 12. The town will eventually put it on display for visitors to meditate and pay their respects to those whose lives were cut short on December 14, 2012.

Interestingly, the lettering of the monument is based on the handwriting of Gray’s daughter, Jayden. Gray says the color scheme of the letters was her idea.

Below is a series of photos of the Rock of Angels monument, courtesy of the Sandy Hook School Memorial Facebook page.
