We first brought you the story of young Alexa Vickerson from Glenburn, who when she was just 8 years old asked her mom if she could raise some money to help kids in need at Christmas. In 2020, Alexa managed to raise $200 in one week, which she used to buy Christmas gifts and then donate those gifts to Toys For Tots.

In 2022, a few other neighborhood kids decided they wanted to help Alexa spread some holiday cheer, too. They were able to raise $1500 last year. This year, they upped that goal to $2000.

Noah and Brennan Owens and Wilder Edwards had so much fun helping Alexa last year, they couldn't wait to do it again!

So the kids got to work, putting on small fundraisers like lemonade stands throughout the year, and the donations started to pile up.

All in all, these kids (and their siblings) helped raise $2600 this year! They split donations between a handful of charitable organizations.

$1500 went to Toys For Tots. $500 went to St. Jude's Children's hospital. $300 went to the Good Shepard's Food Bank and the last $300 went to the Bangor Humane Society.

Brennan Owens says they were happy to help this year.

"Christmas is about giving and so with this we give as much as possible, knowing we get nothing in return, and it's a great feeling."

Her brother, Noah, says the best thing about working hard and accomplishing this goal each year is "making dreams a reality!"

Wilder Edwards simply likes giving people a reason to smile.  "I like doing Toys For Tots because I want to make people happy at the holidays."

And their fearless leader, the girl who inspired these kids to go all out to help those around them for the holidays, she pretty much nailed it with this simple statement.

"You don't have to be big to do big things. "
