A Large Front-End Loader Was Stolen in Clifton and Driven Down Route 9

According to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, there's a good chance someone saw the crime in action when a front-end loader was reported stolen from Woodchuck Hill Road in Clifton at approximately 6:30 Saturday morning. The yellow 2004 Volvo L90 E was loaded onto a trailer and hauled away. An investigation into the theft determined it had crashed through a gate and was driven several miles down Route 9 before leaving the roadway. It was then abandoned on a stranger's property where Deputies recovered it.

The action was reckless and very dangerous. It put the public at risk and disrupted a business's ability to operate.

They went on to state this was not a joy ride but an aggressive theft by someone who worked very hard to hide the piece of machinery.
