
The Maine Leaves Are Changing Fast, See the Latest Foliage Updates
Maine may still be getting some days in the 70's and even 80s, but it is officially the fall season.
Tis the season for many wonderful things, especially the iconic fall foliage.
"Peak" Foliage Season is Upon Us Here in Maine
The season has officially begun, with reports dropping weekly now. According to maine.gov, "peak" season for Northern Maine is the end of September. That's followed by mid-October for Central and Western Maine, and then closer to the end of October for Southern Maine.
Going by these numbers, we are approaching our first "peak" season with the north. It's wonderful to see the leaves starting to change quite a bit. And thanks to the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry's Maine Foliage Report, we can see exactly where things stand.
Drumroll, please...
Well, it's official, the peak has hit Northern Maine. Aroostook County is in prime foliage viewing, so now is the perfect time for a road trip up north.
The rest of the state is rolling along quite well, too. Even the coast is already at moderate foliage levels.
What is Helping This Year's Beautiful Foliage Season in Maine?
We have had some very good weather for foliage over the last few weeks. According to the Weather Tips Guide, the belief is warm days and crsip, cool nights can help the foliage season really brighten up, especially with hose wonderful colors. And that's exactly what a lot of Maine has had. However, we have started to see warmer temperatures expected at night, so that might not be ideal for next week's report.
