According to the department 1,700 women will get diagnosed with breast cancer this year and 180 will die from it. But if you get a mammogram regularly you have a chance to detect the disease early enough.

Close to 230,000 Maine women reported to have had a mammogram in the last year, and you should do. In addition to regular check ups the Maine Department of Health recommends women follow a healthy diet that includes fruits and veggies.

The department offers several programs for women 40-years-old and older who need mammograms but can’t afford it.
