On the 1st anniversary of the mass shootings in Lewiston, Governor Janet Mills has taken to social media to reach out to Maine residents.

It's Been a Year Since the Mass Shootings in 2 Lewiston Businesses

It's hard to know how to feel as we remember the night of October 25, 2023, when 18 people lost their lives and several others were injured at the hands of a gunman. Patrons of Just-In-Time Recreation and Schemengees Bar and Grille in Lewiston, the victims were enjoying a fun night out when their lives were tragically taken from them.

Governor Janet Mills Shared Her Thoughts on Social Media

Earlier this week, Governor Janet Mills ordered all flags in the state to fly at half-staff in honor and remembrance of the victims, survivors, and their loved ones. Today, on the first anniversary of that devastating night, the Governor took to social media to share her thoughts, grief, and confidence in Maine's ability to heal.

The video was posted to Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) to reach as many residents as possible. This evening, Governor Mills will attend a commemoration event in Lewiston, hosted by the One Lewiston Resilience Fund Committee, in partnership with the City of Lewiston, Maine Resiliency Center, and the LA Metro Chamber of Commerce, to honor all those impacted by the tragedy.
