Will Kohl’s Be Closing Any of Their Maine Locations This April?
This popular department store has announced plans to close locations in 15 states this April. Will any of our Kohl’s stores in Maine be affected?
For months, we’ve been hearing news about Kohl’s planning to close several stores across the country in 2025. Now, we’ve got an update on exactly which locations are set to shut down.
In a recent press release, Kohl’s announced it will close 27 underperforming stores by April 2025.
These closures are part of broader real estate changes the company is making in the coming year.
According to the press release, Kohl’s still believes in the strength of its overall store base, which includes more than 1,150 locations nationwide.
All affected associates have been informed and offered either a severance package or the opportunity to apply for other open roles within the company. CEO Tom Kingsbury said these decisions, while difficult, are necessary to support the company’s long-term growth.

So, given all of that, let’s get down to it: is Maine listed as one of the states that will have Kohl’s stores closing by April?
According to the press release from Kohl’s listing the stores that will be closing, none of the five Maine locations—Bangor, Biddeford, Westbrook, Auburn, and Augusta—are included. The only New England store mentioned is one location in Massachusetts that is slated to close.
As of now, based on the information we have, it appears that our Kohl’s locations in Maine are safe—for the time being!
