An explosion on a farm in Carleton County that took the life of a 37-year-old man remains under investigation while funds are being raised to support the man’s family.

Police and emergency personnel were called to a farm in Avondale, New Brunswick Saturday morning after a service vehicle parked on a field road exploded and burst into flames.

Brunswick News reports a man was sitting in the cab of the flatbed truck at the time. Officials said the blast could be heard nearly 20 kilometres away in Hartland. West District RCMP, the Lakeville Fire department, Ambulance NB and the Coroner’s Office responded to the farm just off the White Road Shortly before 9:00 a.m. Saturday.. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

WorkSafeNB has hired a forensic expert to help in the investigation to determine the cause of the deadly explosion. RCMP had not released the victim’s identity as of Tuesday afternoon.
