
Man Seriously Injured after Falling Off Bus Roof on I-95 in Maine
A 35-year-old man was seriously injured Friday morning after falling off the roof of a bus on I-95 in Kittery.
Opened Roof Hatch and Climbed onto the Roof of the Bus
The Maine State Police said Derrick McDuffy from New York “opened the bus’s emergency roof access hatch before climbing onto the roof while the bus was in motion.”
Man said he was “Feeling Overheated” Before Opening Roof Hatch
According to eyewitnesses, McDuffy said he was feeling overheated before he opened the roof hatch.
Fell Off the Roof of the Bus and Landed on the Shoulder of the Road
The bus driver for Concord Coach Lines slowed down and tried to pull over. McDuffy fell from the roof and landed on the shoulder of the Turnpike.
First Aid was Done on the Scene by Several People and Witnesses
When Troopers arrived on the scene, several people were provided aid including other passengers, motorists and civilians. McDuffy was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Passengers Picked Up by a Bus Replacement
“A replacement bus arrived to pick up passengers. Traffic in the area slowed briefly but was not significantly impacted, “ said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
