A 51-year-old man was arrested and charged with OUI after fleeing from deputies and hitting a sheriff’s cruiser in Gray.

Man Pulled Over for Driving Erratically and Almost Hitting Cars

John Arsenault from Freeport was pulled over Thursday evening for driving erratically, almost hitting cars and running a red light near West Gray Road.

Driver Stopped and Drove Away from Deputies

Arsenault initially stopped for deputies and then sped off at a high rate of speed.

Crashed into a Sheriff’s Cruiser and Fled

During the pursuit on Shaker Road, he struck a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office cruiser.

Suspect’s Vehicle was Found Disabled

His vehicle was later found disabled on White Oak Road in Poland, Maine, according to WGME News.

Driver was Uncooperative and Tased During Apprehension

Arsenault was uncooperative with law enforcement and tased before being arrested.

Man Injured and Taken to a Local Hospital and Released to Police

He had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital and then released to police.

Multiple Charges with More Possible

Arsenault was charged with Driving to Endanger, Operating Under the Influence, Reckless Conduct, Eluding, Criminal Speed, Criminal Mischief, Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention and Violating Conditions of Release. More charges are possible.

Taken to County Jail as Investigation Remains Open

He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail and Booked. The investigation is ongoing.
