This is a safety measure from the U.S. Postal Service (USPS).
Why is adding a paw print to your mailbox safe?
The prints are all apart of the PAWS Program, according to News Nation Now.
This program was created to let the mail carriers know their is a dog living at the home.
This smart program is all to help stop dog-related disasters!
Dog incidents are a tale as old as time and are big concerns for our lovely mail carriers in New England. So this will aim to reduce those.
As per the report, there were 5,800, dog-related incidents with carriers and the sticker will give that carrier a reminder to be cautious when approaching the dog house.
An orange sticker tells them a dog lives there and a yellow sticker means a dog is at the next house, according to News Nation Now.

The USPS does have digital alerts that they use to let carriers know of any potential hazards but these stickers are still vital. It's important not to remove them!
