Northern Light AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle is taking increased precautionary measures, as well as temporarily adjusting its visitation policy due to influenza activity in the area.

Extra precautions are also in place at Northern Light Continuing Care in Mars Hill, formerly the Aroostook Health Center, since there has been an outbreak of Influenza A and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). All resident activities are temporarily on hold, and the staff is working to reschedule therapy sessions for outpatients who have compromised respiratory systems or other conditions that would cause them to be more apt to become ill.

Jay Reynolds, MD, Senior Physician Executive, says they are discouraging visitation at this time in an effort to protect hospital patients and continuing care residents. “Those who cannot avoid coming into either facility will be asked to wear a mask and to wash their hands upon entrance and exit.”

If you have questions about the visitation policy at the hospital,  those can be answered at 768-4304. Questions regarding visitation at Continuing Care in Mars Hill should be directed to 768-4915.
