Kendrick Lamar has had a banner 2017. He has more than enough reason to celebrate, but today is special; the kid from Compton turns 30 years old today (June 17).

Lamar dropped DAMN. in March to rave reviews and the album hit the platinum mark in May. The album hit No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart and stayed there for three consecutive weeks. He broke J. Cole's on-demand streaming songs chart record. And he dropped a well-received guest verse on Future's "Mask Off" remix. A high school student named Tiona Cordova won first place in the 3rd District Congressional Art Competition for her painting “Utmost Appreciation," which is of Kendrick Lamar. As the winner, it will hang in the Capitol for a year.

Aside from him buying his sister a new Toyota Camry becoming the year's dumbest controversy thus far, K. Dot's had been killin' it in 2017. And his DAMN. Tour kicks off on July 12 in Phoenix, AZ.

Six years after Section .80 made him an indie darling and five years after he became a star on the heels of 2012s good kid, m.A.A.d city, Kendrick Lamar isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
