Summer seems to be the time when we get all the cool celestial events, like eclipses, meteor showers, and planets visible to the naked eye. So what do we have to look forward to this summer? Well, grab your binoculars - June is going to reveal to us Jupiter, Mercury, and Mars!

Jupiter will be particularly big and bright this month, appearing at dusk and staying in the sky all night. According to NASA, you'll be able to see it shining bright like a diamond just by looking up, but with binoculars or a small telescope you'll be able to glimpse Jupiter's four largest moons and perhaps even the ring of clouds surrounding the planet.

Jupiter's big debut ain't the only celestial excitement going on this month. Just after sunset on June 17th and 18th, Mars and Mercury will appear right next to each other. We may not have a very good view from Maine, as you need a clear view of the western horizon and the farther north you are the harder it will be to see them... but best of luck!
