Former Connecticut Governor to Lead UMaine System

Former Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy has been unanimously voted  to be the next Chancellor of the University of Maine System.

The unanimous vote was made by the University of Maine System Board of Trustees. The appointment wraps up more than a year of planning on who will be taking the place of current Chancellor James Page who will be retiring on June 30.

James Erwin, Chair of the UMS Board of Trustees, called the soon-to-be-chancellor Malloy an executive leader and public servant committed to taking on complex change initiatives and getting the job done. “As governor he delivered reforms and structural changes to state government that were not always popular, and certainly not expedient, but that advanced the long term interest of his state and its citizens."

Former Connecticut Governor Malloy served two terms, being first elected in 2010 and winning re-election in 2014.

Malloy will become the University of Maine System's 13th chancellor since it formed back in 1968. He will begin service on July 1st.
