A Flood Warning remains in effect today along the Aroostook River in the Washburn area.

At 3:30 a.m. Thursday, the river gauge at Washburn indicated a water level of just over 18 feet, more than 2 feet above flood stage, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials say ice jams still locked in place near Washburn and Crouseville, along with continued river rises will cause low land flooding in the warning area.

There were reports Wednesday night from the Washburn Police Department that water was over the Gardiner Creek Road. Sections of the Castle Hill Road are also flooded. Officials are warning residents in low-lying areas to safeguard their homes.

Some areas expected to experience flooding include Mapleton, Washburn, Ashland, Masardis, Oxbow, Castle Hill, Wade,  Scopan and Garfield.
