Firearm Discharges During Altercation in Central Maine

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to an altercation Tuesday evening that escalated to involve a firearm at a residence on Moosehead Trail in Dixmont, said the Sheriff’s Office.

The firearm discharged as two males struggled for the weapon. A female inside the residence was struck, officials said.

She was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield with non-life threatening injuries where she was treated and released.

An investigation continues and will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police Assisted.
