The Greenville Masonic Hall at 281 Pritham Avenue caught on fire around 1:07 am.
Multiple Fire Departments on the Scene of Structure Fire
The Greenville Fire Department said crews arrived on the scene to find heavy fire conditions. Mutual aid from other fire departments also assisted.
Fire Suppressed and Building Stabilized for Investigation
The fire was suppressed and the structure stabilized by firefighters.
State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigated the Cause of the Fire
The State Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause and origin of the blaze.
Fire Originated in the Basement Kitchen Area of Building
Officials said the fire originated in the basement kitchen area of the building.
Extensive Damage and Ignition Source Could Not Be Identified
Due to the extent of the damage, the specific ignition source and cause could not be identified, according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
Fire Was Not Intentional Based on the Evidence
“Based on the available information, there is no evidence to indicate the fire was the result of an intentional act,” said Moss.
