Aroostook County and western New Brunswick will get hit with heavy snow and colder temperatures over the Easter weekend after a warm, sunny Good Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says 4-8 inches of snow could fall on Saturday with temperatures plummeting to the low 20's by late in the day.  Snowfall may be especially heavy Saturday morning.

Here's the Easter weekend weather summary:

Friday:  Gradually becoming mostly sunny.  Highs near 50 (10 Celsius).

Friday night:  increasing clouds with a chance of showers in the evening/areas of fog.  Snow developing after midnight. Lows around 27 (-3C)

Saturday:  Snow.  Blustery, with falling temperatures. Wind gusts up to 30 mph.  Snow accumulation of 4-8 inches possible, with lesser amounts in the far north.

Saturday night:  Snow showers, then partial clearing overnight, lows near 10 (-12C)

Easter Sunday:  A mix of clouds and sun, scattered snow showers. Highs in the upper 20s (-2C)
