A dog named Georgie had gone missing overnight Tuesday into Wednesday in Falmouth and was eventually found trapped in a storm drain.

According to a press release from Falmouth Fire-EMS, Georgie could be heard in the drain and was located by maintenance staff of the OceanView retirement community.

Falmouth Fire-EMS set up equipment for a waste water technician to be lowered down six feet into the drain to retrieve the 11-year old Australian Shepherd.

It took some coaxing with what appears to be a box of crackers in photos shared on the Falmouth Fire-EMS Facebook page, but eventually Georgie was recovered wet and tired after a long night, happy to be out of the drain and back with her family.

"The rescue went very smoothly and was a great example of teamwork between town departments (Wastewater and Fire-EMS)," Chief Howard Rice said. "Falmouth Fire-EMS currently has 17 members trained in confined space rescue"
