We all know that person that is totally infatuated with a little thing called energy drinks. Some people down them like water, just to have more energy, to be able to function better, and to not fall asleep… Or so they think!

I’ve never been a fan of the energy drink. I have tried a few different types and they just have a nasty taste that is hard to get past. I work with a couple different people that love the stuff though. It’s seems like they are always drinking one so they can stay focused and concentrate on their work.

I have to say, I’m not a believer in any of the hype of these energy drink companies. And now there is proof that they may not be as effective as you might think. According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Robin Toblin conducted a study at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, and collected data on service members in Afghan war zones. She says those who had at least three energy drinks a day reported falling asleep more often on guard duty and in briefings than did troops who drank fewer.

So I guess I’ll be skipping that energy drink again today! How about you?
