‘Despicable Me 3’ Trailer: Gru’s Got Double Trouble With His Twin Brother
Trapped inside by today’s massive snowstorm? There’s a silver lining: Now you have time to watch the new Despicable Me 3 trailer 576 times.
If you don’t feel like doing that, here’s the pertinent information you will be missing: Steve Carell’s Gru has a twin brother he has never met before. He’s named Dru and he has beautiful hair and he’s also voiced by Steve Carell. He wears all white and cool sunglasses and he has a mansion. He’s the opposite of Gru in every way, except he’s a super-villain too, and he wants Gru to join him for a big heist. Yep, it’s the old evil twin gag, now in Gru form.
Kristen Wiig and Trey Parker also star (although not in this trailer, which is all Carell all the time). And, of course, you will see plenty of the Minions, those living blobs of yellow protoplastmic goo who talk in gibberish nonsense and occasionally make middling spinoff movies of their own. The official plot synopsis for Despicable Me 3:
The team who brought you Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, returns to continue the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes—and the Minions.
There’s also a new poster for the film as well:
Still snowing out? Let’s watch that trailer again! Despicable Me 3 opens in theaters on June 30. Hopefully the snow stops by then.
