One person was injured when a sport utility vehicle rammed into the back of a transport truck on the Trans-Canada Highway in Saint-Jacques early Wednesday morning.

A mechanical failure was reported to be the cause of the accident. There was heavy snow falling and the road was slippery at the time.

A passenger in the SUV was transported by ambulance to the Edmundston Regional Hospital with minor injuries, according to CIMT-TV. The driver was not injured.

The RCMP and Edmundston Fire Department were called to the scene.
