New Sharon Couple Charged in Suspected Meth Lab Operation

A man and woman were arrested Friday after a meth lab was allegedly discovered inside their home in New Sharon. 

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s lab team spent several hours Friday at the home on the Farmington Falls Road dismantling the suspected lab and gathering evidence.

Arrested were 38-year-old Daniel Villacci and 30-year-old Tabatha Schoubroek – both charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a child.  Two young children were living at the house and the Department of Health and Human Services was called to assist with the children’s care, according to Steve McCausland of the Maine Dept. of Public Safety.

McCausland said the drug-making operation was discovered  Friday by MDEA agents and Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies.  Officers went to the house to follow up on a tip from Farmington Police.

Villacci was out on bail on previous drug charges. He and Schoubroek are each being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. The Kennebec Journal reported that in April 2014, the children had come home from school to find the two adults unresponsive after overdosing on heroin.

Also assisting with the clean-up at the house Friday were the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the New Sharon Fire Department.

This is the sixth meth lab discovered in Maine so far this year.  Last Friday, a meth lab was found inside an Ellsworth apartment, and earlier this month, a lab was dismantled inside a house in Bar Harbor.
