In October, Mainers will have the rare opportunity to experience the magic of Cirque du Solei. The dancers are bringing their mega act to Portland. The audience will see two full hours of dancing, singing, and acrobatics.

At a press conference, Cirque du Solei’s choreographer revealed that the troupe will perform ‘Saltimbanco’ - a colorful play packed with dancing and amazing acrobatics. The first show starts on October 10 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Saltimbanco’ is the longest running act performed by the famous troupe. It started in 1992 and continues until today. The play is a celebration of life - where actors wear colorful costumes, and the music is upbeat.

The name ‘Saltimbanco’ comes from the Italian ‘saltare in banco’ which means ‘jumping on bench.’ The play's 51- member act includes musicians, dancers, singers, and acrobats ready to put on a grand show - Cirque du Solei style.
