Brown is the former Commanding Officer of the RCMP Academy in Saskatchewan.  He takes over command in New Brunswick from Assistant Commissioner Wayne Lang, who has retired from the force.

Born in Newfoundland, Brown joined the RCMP in 1980 with his first posting in general duty policing in Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec.  Brown has also worked in Newfoundland, at the National Headquarters in Ottawa, and was the Commanding Officer of the RCMP Academy for five years prior to moving to New Brunswick.

Assistant Commissioner Brown said, "I'm excited to be here working alongside the men and women of the RCMP in New Brunswick to make our province an even safer place to live."

The RCMP employs about 1,000 people in New Brunswick. It provides policing services to 71 percent of New Brunswick's population, covering more than 98 percent of the province's land area.
