Classes were cancelled Friday at Caribou High School and Caribou Technology Center after a school administrator received information of a possible threat to the safety of the student body.

Details on the nature of the threat were not revealed but officials at Eastern Aroostook RSU 39 said more information will be forthcoming once the threat has been investigated.

In a social media post late Thursday night, officials stated that "school systems take these types of threats seriously."

Parents were notified that all classes at Caribou High School and Caribou Technology Center would be cancelled for Friday, February 2. Staff was asked to report as usual Friday morning. Other RSU 39 schools will remain in session.
