BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) — Authorities say a 92-year-old Brunswick woman was seriously burned when her clothes caught fire while she was cooking.

The woman was taken to the trauma unit at Maine Medical Center in Portland with third-degree burns on her back following the fire reported at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Her name was not made public.

Her home received minor damage.

Sgt. Joel Davis of the state Fire Marshal's office says the woman was wearing a life alert device that notified the fire department and a neighbor.

The neighbor suffered minor hand burns.

The fire is under investigation although it is not considered suspicious.
