
Bomb Squad Neutralizes Suspected Grenade in Maine
Police are investigating after a person found what they believed to be a grenade adjacent to a roadway in Limington.
Device Resembling a Grenade Found on the Side of the Road
The Maine State Police responded to the scene around 5: 30 pm on Number 1 Road. The device was located near a dumpster along the road.
Bomb Squad Responds to Potentially Hazardous Device
Troopers said the device was potentially hazardous and contacted the Maine State Police Bomb Squad.

Techs Used X-Ray to Determine the Type of Material Inside the Device
“Technicians responded to the scene and attempted to X-ray the item; however, they were unable to determine the exact status of the energetic material inside” according to Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Countercharged and Deemed Safe
The device was countercharged on site and deemed safe.

Device Resembles a Military-Style M67 Hand Grenade
“The device closely resembles a military-style M67 hand grenade, though it appeared to have been altered.” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
