‘Avengers: Endgame’ Is Getting a New Post-Credits Scene
When Avengers: Endgame first opened in theaters, it didn’t have a post-credits scene. It seemed to do okay without it; the movie has already grossed some $2.74 billion worldwide, becoming the second-highest grossing film ever. Ah, but it’s not the #1 movie all-time, and its ticket sales have slowed to the point that if things continue as they are currently, the film would almost certainly not pass the #1 film (Avatar, with $2.78 billion). So how to get those last couple million bucks?
Well, you get people who’ve already seen the movie (or seen it 100 times) to come back again. ScreenRant says that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told them in an interview at the Spider-Man junket that Endgame is finally getting a post-credits scene. Here’s how he put it:
[The new version is] not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.
Apparently “next weekend” means not this coming Friday, but the following one — June 28. We’ll bring you more details of exactly what is in this post-credits “surprise” when we have it. We’ll see if that is enough to push the mighty Avengers over Avatar on the all-time box office list.
