Star City Coffee presents artist Ryan Scully. Ryan is an Illustrator and Graphic Designer originally from Massachusetts, which is where most of his inspiration comes from. He brings the city to Northern Maine with his contemporary artworks. He has done designs for local bands, including the cover of Crunk Witch’s newest album called “Heartbeats in Hyper Space”. You can also join Ryan Scully and Crunk Witch on August 14, 2014 when they hold their album release party and kick off their U.S. Tour at Star City Coffee.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Fine Art Gallery is proud to present the group exhibition “BFA14”. This collection of artwork features this year’s University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Bachelor of Fine Arts students – Mirandah Akeley, Matt Austin, Kati Christoffel, Rowena Forbes and Ryan Van Buskirk. The exhibit will run from July4 to August 17, and is free and open to the public. It is open for the First Friday Art Walk on August 1, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. and light refreshments will be served. Check out the Facebook page. The Reed Fine Art Gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gallery is closed Sundays. Wintergreen Arts Center is pleased to present author Leonard Hutchins and illustrator Judy Sherman for a reading of their new book “Bon Homme”. Mr. Hutchins was born in Fort Fairfield and returned to The County in 1962 to teach at the Ashland Community High School. His “kids” shared pride in their home and history and many of the anecdotes can be seen in “Bon Homme”. Judy Sherman was born in Oxbow and currently resides there. She started taking art lessons in 1988 and has won many awards for her work. Leonard and Judy have collaborated on other books including “Gram, is He Telling Me the Truth” and “Legends & Lore”.

The Whole Potato Cafe and Commons presents “We Can Only Make One Decision: a drawing exhibition by Heather Sincavage”. The exhibit features a survey of drawings done during Heather’s three artist residencies in Finland, Spain and Iceland, as well as new drawings completed here in Presque Isle. The drawings are process oriented and an analysis on the “Self”. They embrace the acceptance of errors, indecision and an accumulation of experiences that make us who we are. Ms. Sincavage is an Assistant Professor of Fine Art at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and Director of the Reed Art Gallery.
