86-Year-Old Mount Desert Island Man Found Safe in Presque Isle

An 86-year-old Mount Desert Island man who went missing was found safe in Presque Isle after he ran out of gas.

Thornton Jenkins had been missing since Saturday when he was located in his 2003 Ford Explorer. Officials said he has early dementia and had no cell phone.

Jenkins had been expected back home around noon Saturday after running errands in Somesville and Southwest Harbor. Police said he had talked about going to New London, New Hampshire (police there were notified).
