It’s been 65 years since Terry Miracle put on a football uniform in high school, but he still remembered his defensive training.  The 82-year-old Washington state man pulled a “cross-body block” to trip up a burglary suspect who was running from the police.

Longview Police say Mr. Miracle threw himself at 27 year old Morgan Bluehorse, when the man came running into his yard.

The chase began when police spotted Bluehorse, a convicted felon, coming from behind a house wearing a backpack. The suspect bolted and led officers through yards and over fences as residents yelled out directions to help the police in their pursuit.

Miracle was working in his garden when he heard the commotion and sprang into action.

When the suspect came running around the corner of his house, Miracle said he launched a cross-body block as he had used in high school football. Both of them tumbled to the ground.

Bluehorse resumed running, but Miracle's tackle allowed police to catch up  and bring the suspect down and handcuff him.

The Longview Daily News reported Mr. Miracle had some sore muscles, but that was offset by his good feelings about helping capture a bad guy.
