6 New Queens Crowned in Miss Presque Isle Pageants 2022
Mud season and crowns
Springtime in northern Maine means it's time to bring out the mud boots, rain coats, and pageant dresses. While many might find that to be an odd combination, it is the way of life for many local young ladies on the pageant circuit in Aroostook County as the season for crowning queens is upon us.
Many local pageants are returning for the first time since 2019 as many of the contests have been the last two years due to the pandemic and restrictions. On Saturday evening, the Miss Presque Isle Pageants were held at the Presque Isle High School as competitors set their sights on one of six titles being handed out to represent the Star-City.
What was at stake on Saturday night?
The titles up for grabs on Saturday were Mini Miss, Little Miss, Pre-Teen Miss, Jr. Miss, Teen Miss, and Miss Presque Isle. There were 15 young ladies that competed across the various divisions based on their age and grade level. The winners have the opportunity to move on and compete for the title of Maine Potato Blossom Queen later this summer in Fort Fairfield.
Don't go anywhere just yet
Those that were named the first runners up in their division will assume the title should the winner not be able to fulfill her duties, or if they assume another title during the year such as winning the potato blossom pageant.
