A 39-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night in Auburn, Maine for an outstanding warrant for a parole violation related to a homicide.

Man Arrested for an Outstanding Warrant

The Auburn Police Department said James Gaines from Brooklyn, New York “had an outstanding warrant out of Pennsylvania for a parole violation. Officers further learned that Gaines is on parole in that state due to a conviction for homicide.”

Pulled Over for a Traffic Infraction

Officers with Auburn Police Department’s Proactive Community Enforcement (PACE) Unit pulled Gaines over around 9:50 pm for a traffic violation.

Suspect Gave Police a False Name

Gaines was the passenger in the vehicle and gave police a false name.

Jail and Extradition

He was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail and was held without bail. He was to be extradited to Pennsylvania.
