March 1 - 6 - Troopers assisted MCU with various investigation assignments and scene security on the Houlton homicide.  Trooper Sylvia and K-9 ‘Merry’ were called out for a track from the victim’s truck and the following day for an article search.  Trooper Hafford assisted throughout the week as an ERT Link to story & photo.

March 1 - Troopers Darcy and Bell responded to Benedicta after Houlton RCC received an anonymous  9-1-1 call requesting Troopers and an ambulance at the residence.  Trooper Darcy located a female hiding on the floorboard of a truck in the driveway.  The female party admitted to assaulting her husband.  As a result, Trooper Darcy arrested a female from East Millinocket for Domestic Violence Assault and Violation of Conditions of Release.  Trooper Bell arrested the male victim, also from East Millinocket, on a warrant for a probation violation.

March 2 – Trooper Bell investigated a traffic complaint of a vehicle crossing the centerline in Westfield.  Trooper Bell met the vehicle in Monticello and observed very poor operation.  Investigation revealed that the woman had been drinking, admitted to feeling impaired, and showed multiple clues during SFST.  Trooper Bell arrested the female operator for OUI.

March 2 - Trooper Casavant began investigating a theft in Easton where someone gave a false name and social security number to get internet services.

March 4 - Trooper Sylvia attended K-9 training.

March 4 - Trooper Michaud investigated 2 crashes on I-95 in Ludlow that happened moments apart.  Two separate drivers drove into a deep pool of water that had been created by melting snow, hydroplaned and left the roadway.  A portion of the interstate was closed for about 1.5 hours while the scenes were cleared.  No significant injuries were reported, although 1 person was transported to the hospital.  Link to story & photo.

March 5 - Trooper Saucier responded to Patten for an unattended death of a 56-year-old male.  The man had some minor health history, but nothing at the scene raised suspicion.

March 5 - Trooper Sylvia and Sgt. Haines responded to Orient for a domestic. As a result of the investigation a 38-year-old Orient man was arrested for assault.

March 7 - Trooper Hafford received a call of an erratic operator on Route 11 turning onto Soldier Pond Road in Wallagrass.  Trooper Hafford met this vehicle on Rt. 161 a short time later and stopped it in Fort Kent after observing erratic operation.  Trooper Hafford arrested a 49-year-old female for OUI.

March 8 - Trooper Darcy stopped a vehicle in Houlton for a defect.  As a result of the stop and field sobriety tests, Trooper Darcy charged a 24-year-old male from Smyrna with Operating Under the Influence- liquor.  This will be last week of the windmill escorts headed south to Searsport, in a couple months they will begin the trip back to Oakfield.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
