It was a balmy 20 degrees below zero when I woke up this morning, and even though it has warmed up some, it is still pretty cold out there. Luckily, the cold didn't seem to keep the fans away from the 2014 IBU Youth / Junior Biathlon World Championships that are taking place at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle.

Well it was a chilly trek and one of the quickest parades I've seen, but fans came out in droves to get a look at the Boston Red Sox 2013 World Series trophy as it made its way down Main Street in a parade of First Responders. It all coincides with the 2014 IBU Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championships which are taking place at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle this week.

If you've been through Presque Isle at all lately, you may have noticed the many snow sculptures in the area.  The reason being that the community was challenged to make creative snow sculptures with an international flair as part of the 2014 IBU Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championships. The winner would take home a $500 grand prize!

The 2014 IBU Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championship competitions scheduled for Wednesday, March 5th at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle have been delayed by an hour due to the extremely cold temperatures expected overnight.

In the midst of the 2014 Youth/Junior Biathlon World Championships, the Biathlon committee overheard that IBU Race Director, Borut Nunar's dream was to one day drive a tractor trailer truck. Well, the staff at the Northern Maine Community College stepped in and made a dream come true.
