State Police say Olivia Bouchard of Greenville was traveling north in a 2000 Subaru Legacy when a moose entered the roadway.   Bouchard was unable to avoid the moose and struck the animal head on, according to Sgt. Brian Harris.  The moose vaulted over the hood of Bouchard's car and crashed through the windshield.

Bouchard sustained numerous cuts from the glass, and was transported via Ashland Ambulance to the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle for treatment, Harris said.

State Police Sgt. Alden Bustard and the Maine Warden Service were at the scene investigating the crash in T9-R5, which occurred just before 3 p.m. Sunday.

The area is about 20 miles due west of Bridgewater.
