The second day of April started with bright sunshine across Aroostook County and western New Brunswick but will turn messy by evening.

The National Weather Service Office in Caribou has posted a Winter Weather Advisory from Thursday evening until early Friday morning, with snow sleet and freezing rain expected.

Here's the weather summary for Aroostook County/Western New Brunswick:

Today: Sunny in the morning...then increasing clouds with a chance of snow this afternoon…Highs near 35/+2 Celcius

Tonight:  Snow changing to sleet and freezing rain. Total snow accumulation of 1 to 4 inches, with the higher amounts in the north.  Breezy…Lows around 30/-1C with temps rising by morning.

Friday:  A chance of rain in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon... Highs reach the upper 40's/8C.
