When Does Maine ‘Fall Back’ for Daylight Saving Time in 2024?
It may seem early, but when do we need to start worrying about losing an hour of sleep in our Pine Tree State?
Whether you're a Mainer or a visitor ‘from away,’ it's time to soak up the sunshine and enjoy all that our beautiful state has to offer. Maine's summer days are a gift, and we should all make the most of them!
We Mainers should make the most of these longer summer days and nights because we know a thing or two about long, cold winters.
We bundle up, hunker down, and dream of warmer days. With all that being said, we need to enjoy the summer sun while we can.
But what does it mean to ‘fall back’ for Daylight Saving Time?
For those who don’t know, to ‘fall back’ means setting your clocks back one hour. We do this in the fall to end Daylight Saving Time. The idea is to have more daylight in the evenings during the summer months when people are typically awake later.
So when are we turning our clocks back in Maine?
Daylight Saving Time began at 2 a.m. on March 10, 2024, keeping it in place for 238 days, well over half of the year, according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Here in Maine, Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on November 3, 2024, when we will set our clocks back an hour and return to standard time.
Again, the first Sunday in November is when Daylight Saving Time ends, and that’s when, in 2024, we will ‘fall back.’
