Wallagrass Woman Dies in Car Crash
A 21-year-old Wallagrass woman is dead following a car accident that happened on the Strip Road on Wednesday morning.
According to Sgt. Josh Haines with the Maine State Police, a motorist reported a single vehicle crash on the Strip Road at approximately 9:50 a.m. Wednesday.
The investigation showed that 21-year-old Alesha Kelley was traveling South coming from Route 161 when she entered a corner and lost control of her vehicle. Kelley’s 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse skidded off the roadway and rolled over into the ditch impacting several trees before coming to rest on its side.
The vehicle caught on fire, but was quickly extinguished by Trooper Dan Marquis and the Fort Kent Fire Department.
Police say Kelley died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
Fort Kent Police, Fire and Ambulance, Maine Warden Service and Maine Forest Service all assisted at the scene.
