Marine Officials Say the Boat Was Found on the Island of Vinalhaven
Maine Marine Patrol Officers found the boat at approximately 8:00 Wednesday morning on Seal Ledge, on the southwest side of Vinalhaven, in Penobscot Bay. The Holly and Abby, a watercraft owned by lobster dealer Fox Island Lobster Company, was lying on its side and taking on water. Officials say the boat's driver wasn't at the scene.
OUI In a Watercraft Could Result in Jail Time and a Hefty Fine
When officials caught up to Larsen, who had been piloting the Holly and Abby, he was at the Rockland Fish Pier. He was transported to the Knox County Jail where he was issued a summons for operating a watercraft while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The charge is a class D crime with a maximum penalty of up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.
Crews worked to salvage the boat and prevent 80 to 100 gallons of diesel fuel from leaking.
This incident remains under investigation by the U.S. Coast Guard.
